Our History

About Birthright

Birthright was founded in 1968 in Toronto, Canada by Louise Summerhill. Louise recognized the despair facing pregnant women with unplanned pregnancies. The essence of Birthright is love. Louise shares her insights with her Birthright family:  "The heart of relationship is not to do things for people. It is to reveal to them that they are unique, precious and have beautiful gifts. It is to live a communion of hearts with them where we help each other to grow to greater freedom. Life flows from one to another".  

At Birthright, we listen, answer questions and talk about your options. We will help you to develop a life plan, free from any pressure you may be facing from family and friends.

This may be one of the biggest decisions you face in your lifetime. You don't have to struggle alone. We are here to support you. We rely on intuition, common sense and a loving receptive attitude, free from all judgement. You can make the best decisions for your life, we are here to support you, regardless of your decision.
